Myoa Owns Her Independence With New Release, ‘Star Power’

Singer-Songwriter, Myoa is from the beautiful coast of West Africa. It was in Southwest England at the University of Plymouth where she honed her songwriting and keyboard skills. Her dedication to music and steady optimism is what drew her to the United States, sunny Los Angeles, California to be exact. The door to opportunity was wide open for Myoa. She learned about vocal performance and music production and ultimately landed an internship at Universal Music Group. Now a Houston, Texas transplant, Myoa’s following has amassed. She performs live with her band at trendy intimate venues and believes in creating her own lane versus trying to fit into the norm of today’s mainstream sound. Her uniqueness, universal influence and sultry vocals is what makes her a stellar entertainer. Myoa speaks on her passion by stating, “Music has been embedded in me and so it’s hard for me to imagine life without listening to music, singing or writing. I usually tell myself to keep going; it will all be worth it. I call it faith, and that’s what drives me.”

Myoa says that recording her first album, Beautiful Journey,“validates all my hard work as an independent artist.” Soul, Jazz, Pop and R&B are all fused into her vocals and she captivates audiences with emotive and relatable lyrics. Her latest single, You is symbolic of freeing oneself from toxic relationships that don’t contribute to personal growth or happiness.

Myoa is set to release a new single, Star Power on July 26. It symbolizes who she is as an artist. “It is a song that reminds me of my purpose. When I wake up each morning, I feel the power of a new day to create and share music,” Myoa explains. BigFootInYourFace, a Nigerian producer that Myoa reached out to during her visit to West Africa back in January of 2017, produced Star Power. Myoa felt inspired in BigFootInYourFace’s studio, immediately creating the hook after hearing him bring her vision to life in the instrumental. She hopes to teach listeners that, “Regardless of the weather of life, rain or sun, there is goodness there, because you can be who you want to be.
