San Antonio Kicks Off Texas Leg Of J.I.D’s Catch Me If You Can Tour

In haste of his latest album, "DiCaprio 2", J.I.D announced the "Catch Me If You Can" tour. The heart of downtown San Antonio, Texas, was filled with eager fans awaiting entry into the Aztec Theater on June 12.

East Atlanta-bred rapper and Dreamville artist, J.I.D gained notoriety with his debut studio album entitled, The Never Story, with support from label leader J. Cole. The album was a serious introduction to his superlative rapping abilities.

In haste of his latest album, DiCaprio 2, J.I.D announced the “Catch Me If You Can” tour. The first leg of the tour kicked off in Eugene, Oregon on January 22 and ended in New Orleans, Louisiana on March 23. The second leg of the tour is accompanied by Saba, Mereba and Deante’ Hitchcock and began in Washington, DC on May 3. It will come to an end in Atlanta, Georgia on June 19 and I imagine the energy will be dynamic.

The heart of downtown San Antonio, Texas, was filled with eager fans awaiting entry into the Aztec Theater on June 12. Everything about the show was notable. Each artist brought their authenticity and energy to the stage, which made for a worthwhile experience. One great thing about tours is being exposed to new artists, new music or even matching a face with a song that you’ve heard multiple times but never knew who the artist was. The lineup was as follows: Deante’ Hitchcock opened the show, followed by Mereba, Saba and of course J.I.D.

I spoke of authenticity and J.I.D embodied that. Following his sweat dripping, fast rapping, highly energetic, in-crowd performance, he hopped off stage and connected with fans. Autographs were signed, handshakes exchanged, hugs given and selfies taken. Throughout the show he constantly reflected on his journey and gave words of motivation and encouragement to fans about never letting others tell you that you can’t.

If you haven’t attended a J.I.D concert, add that to your bucket list:
