Shawn Carter-aka Beyonce’s husband, aka Jay-Z-has sold one-third of Tidal, his music streaming service, to Sprint for $200 million according to CNN Money and Billboard. Jay-Z bought Tidal in 2015 for $56 million from Aspiro, a small tech company.
According to Forbes, Jay-Z and the other artists who own Tidal (which I believe includes Beyonce) will retain equity and will continue to run the streaming service.
For lack of a better term, Jay and ‘Em hit a lick with this Sprint deal.
(Hit a lick explained: To gain a sh*t load of money in a short amount of time – Urban Dictionary)
With an estimated net worth of $650 million, who better to teach us than Shawn Carter himself about how to acquire, maintain, and manage these dead presidents. I have suggestions for the curriculum.
